Our Little Walker

It has been a while since I have had a milestone to post.  On April 4th, Callie took her first steps on her own.  Tonight we were finally able to capture her little steps on video.  It is so much fun to see her do something new and she loves the applause that she gets for her new achievements!

As many of you probably heard (or experienced) Denver had quite the snow storm this week!  Fortunately, Kenny got the day off work and we were able to go to the park with Callie's friend Emma and play a little bit.  The girls didn't enjoy the snow activities as much as we thought.

Every night when Kenny comes home, Callie will hold up her hands at him because she knows that he will  let her hang on to his fingers and walk around the house.  In an effort to relieve Kenny of this duty, I thought Callie might like a toy that she could use to walk around the house.  I haven't given her free reign yet because I would like to keep my walls in tact, but here is a video of Callie learning to walk on her own.

For a long time we have been saying "Callie is going to crawl any day."  Well, she has finally made a little more progress in the area of crawling.  She usually only moves if there is something (like a toy or milk) that she really wants.  She hasn't quite come to understand that she can actually take herself somewhere else in the house (which I am okay with for now:)

One of Callie's new favorite things is going to the park and swinging on the swings.  Usually I will go running for a bit and then we can have some swinging time.  She especially likes to go with her friend Emma!  Here is a little video of what makes Callie's day a little brighter!

New Favorite Food

I enjoy seeing evidences of a true "Cinco de Mayo" baby in Callie Jean.  Her favorite meal (since being able to give her some solid foods from our plate) is Mexican!  Not only does she love sour cream and guacamole but her very favorite food is tortillas.  If she sees tortillas on the table she will squirm until she is handed one.  When she finally has one in her little hands, she tries to shove the entire thing into her mouth.  It is quite a site!  Of course, she doesn't know how to chew or swallow the tortilla yet but it sure is yummy to suck on!  Here is a picture of one of Callie's recent tortilla indulgences :)

First Christmas Tree

Since Kenny and I moved to Colorado 2 1/2 years ago, we have enjoyed going to the mountains to cut down our own Christmas tree.  It is one of our favorite things about celebrating the Christmas season in Colorado.  We were very excited to include our daughter in this tradition this year.  Unfortunately for Callie, it was a cool 15 degrees yesterday when we went to cut down our tree.  She didn't seem to mind getting bundled up to head out for our little adventure!  One day I will tell her all about my hike up the mountain in the snow with her strapped to my chest... it wasn't easy but it was fun!
